Differences Between Succulents and Cacti

Family: All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti. Cacti belong to a specific family, while succulents can belong to multiple families.

Spines: Cacti typically have spines, while succulents may have leaves or other structures that do not have spines.

Areoles: Cacti have areoles, which are small, cushion-like structures from which spines, flowers, and new branches grow. Succulents do not have areoles.
